On Sunday, October 10th at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. William Stafford, Ph.D., will deliver the 2nd annual Bishop Mark Dyer lecture in Norton Hall. A San Francisco native, Bill Stafford was a professor of church history at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) from 1976-2004, and also served as associate dean for academic affairs there from 1997-2004. He was dean of the School of Theology at University of the South (Sewanee) from 2004 until 2012. Rev. Stafford is currently Visiting Professor of Church History at Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Rev. Stafford holds a B.A. from Stanford University, an M.A., M.Phil., from Yale University, Université de Strasbourg: Faculté de théologie protestante, a Ph.D. from Yale University, and a D.D. from Virginia Theological Seminary.

Rev. Stafford will speak on his time at VTS with Bishop Dyer:

“I learned a great deal from the Rt. Rev. Mark Dyer during my latter years at VTS,…Mark moved into the faculty at VTS with grace and tact. He was a great influence as a brilliant teacher and perhaps even more as a person of deep prayer and dedication to God and God’s mission–to me as to so many throughout the world. I’ll talk about his influence as I knew him best, during the years we shared at VTS.”

We look forward to seeing you on October 10th at 10:00.
