Summer Outreach
During the summer at St. Paul’s we focus on supporting our outreach ministries. During June, July, and August, St. Paul’s highlights a project that reaches out to support our neighbors in Alexandria and our neighbors around the world. Be on the lookout for information about how you can help in the Outreach email each month and in the weekly Friday news update.
This August we are raising support for our ministry partners, Casa Chirilagua. Specifically, donations this August will fund the Casa to College program. In the 2023-24 school year, Casa Chirilagua will have 20 high school students in the Casa to College program who are all gearing up to be the first in their families to attend college.
Casa Chirilagua needs the help of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to get the Casa to College program off the ground this fall.
Casa Chirilagua describes itself as “a community of people learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in the Chirilagua neighborhood of Alexandria, bringing transformational change in the lives of those they serve. Through Casa to College, mentors come alongside high schoolers to shape future leaders by providing practical guidance and support for students hoping to attend college or a trade school, and by offering tutoring and other assistance.
Donations of any amount will be very helpful to the Casa to College program. Here are a few specific areas of need:
Thank you to all who donated to our July Outreach fundraiser, the Pennies From Heaven Scholarship Drive. With your help we raised over $25,000 to support the students at the Renk Basic School in South Sudan. After years of war, drought, violence, and poverty The Renk Basic School is a glimmer of hope for the children of South Sudan. St. Paul’s is proud of its decades-long commitment to our brothers and sisters in South Sudan and we are so grateful to you for helping us maintain this important relationship. Your donations work miracles in the lives of students in South Sudan.
