St. Paul's Choir

We welcome musicians of all ages and experiences to participate in the music ministry at St. Paul’s. If you play an instrument (including piano or organ) or sing, please join us – we always have room and are eager to share! From student musicians to professionals, there is a place for you here. If you have questions about the music program or if you would like to join us, please reach out to Eric Schnobrick at [email protected].

St. Paul's Choir
St. Paul’s Choir leads music for the 11:00 service on Sundays during the program year, as well as celebrating on major liturgical holidays. In addition to leading hymns and service music, the choir chants psalms and offers two anthems every Sunday. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:30, followed by fellowship. Sunday morning call is 10:00.

St. Cecilia Choir
The St. Cecilia Choir is a training choir for students starting in the third grade. This choir will lead worship at the 9:00 service several times each year, as well as joining the St. Paul’s Choir for major feasts and on other special occasions. This choir aims to develop musical fluency, to deepen singers’ senses of connection of music to worship, and to prepare young singers to enter St. Paul’s Choir if desired. No previous musical experience is required to join. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 5:45-6:30. When singing on Sundays, call time will be 8:30 for the 9:00 service or 10:00 for the 11:00 service.

Angel Choir
Angel Choir is a place for children to build community through music. With young singers able to join starting at four years old, Angel Choir is designed to be accessible to pre-readers. Memorable and uplifting songs will be supplemented by learning some simple but meaningful liturgical roles. These will be put into practice several times through the year when Angel Choir helps to lead the 9:00 service. No previous musical experience is required to join. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 5:00-5:30. When singing on Sundays, call time will be 8:30.

A church musician since high school, Eric is thrilled to join the staff at St. Paul’s. As a pianist, he appears regularly with the National Symphony Orchestra and performs as principal pianist with the Washington Ballet Orchestra. He has been engaged by Alexandria Choral Society, Washington Performing Arts, Glimmerglass Festival, Minnesota Opera, Fort Worth Opera, and Palm Beach Opera, and has further experience as an educator working at the Seagle Music Colony and the Young Artists Training Programme at the New National Theatre in Tokyo. He is continuing in his fifth year as the pianist for Beth El Hebrew Congregation in Alexandria. Also an arts administrator, Eric comes to St. Paul’s after nearly six years as the General Manager and Assistant Executive Director of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras. Eric and his wife, Elizabeth, have attended St. Paul’s for nearly ten years; they were married and have had all three of their children baptized here. He looks forward to having an active role in refining the musical character of three distinct services at St. Paul’s while welcoming any musician that would like to participate.
